Mechanical Assemblers


Nanometrics is looking for contract Mechanical Assemblers to join our production team in Kanata. Responsibilities include the assembly of products using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners. The Assembler will be responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand assembly instructions, schematics, blueprints and other technical documentation

  • Fasten electro-mechanical components together using hand and power tools with strict adherence to assembly instructions with the highest regard for safety and quality

  • Assemble harnesses and cables to IPC-620 workmanship standards

  • Soldering Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) to IPC-610 workmanship standards sometimes including very fine wire using a microscope

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field preferred

  • 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Assembler

  • Strong computer skills are necessary

  • Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and product handling procedures

  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

  • Time management skills

  • Critical eye for identifying defects

  • Commitment to quality and safety

  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current

  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule

  • Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour
