Position

Nanometrics is looking for a dynamic Planning Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, Manufacturing, the candidate will actively run the planning process (MRP/MPS/CRP).  In addition the candidate will manage shop floor control and warehouse staff.  We are looking for someone to provide leadership to ensure orders are planned and shipped in a lean manufacturing environment ensuring lowest cost and highest quality.The position requires a practical, hands-on professional who can work with business leaders across the organization.  We are looking for a talented individual who is self-driven, motivated, and demonstrates a desire to improve and modernize practices.  

 

Job Duties

  • Actively prepares the plant production schedule considering:  capacity (RCCP) and constraints due to manpower, materials, run rates, and demand forecasts.

  • Responsible for maintenance and execution of all Systems relating to Demand Planning, MRP, Shop Floor Control, and Warehousing functions. 

  • Create and maintain Master Production Schedule based on inputs from the i) Sales forecast, ii) Sales Order backlog, iii) Bids/quotes as directed by Manufacturing Director.

  • Improve customer order fulfillment while maintaining acceptable levels of inventory turnover.

  • Support new product introduction including materials availability and production planning.

  • Reviews Product Change Orders and takes appropriate action to control configuration of products

  • Develop, implement and manage key performance metrics.

  • Coordinate annual physical inventory checks.

  • Maintain optimum finished goods inventory levels to meet or exceed Customer expectations in delivery

  • Liaising with production, supply chain, engineering, and revenue operations to ensure priorities are aligned and confirm realistic ship dates to order entry team

  • Proactively communicate on-time delivery risks to key stakeholders and propose risk mitigation strategies

  • Own the manufacturing stake of revenue achievement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (ie BComm, BA, BSc and/or MBA)

  • 5-8 Years’ progressive experience (including management) in Supply Chain roles (Procurement, Planning and Warehouse)

  • APICS certification would be desirable

  • Demonstrable experience in Six Sigma/LEAN manufacturing methodologies

  • Excellent knowledge of planning and quality systems
