British Geological Survey Signs Five Year Supply Agreement

The British Geological Survey (BGS) in Edinburgh, UK recently signed a framework agreement for the supply of broadband seismometers, data acquisitions systems and Libra VSAT communications equipment from Nanometrics Inc of Ottawa Canada. The equipment will be used to upgrade the UK real-time seismic network.

The agreement is the result of an open Request for Proposal for the Supply of Broadband Seismograph Stations with Internet or Satellite Communications which closed November 4, 2005. Under the terms of the agreement, Nanometrics will supply Trillium 240 second broadband seismometers, Taurus 24-bit data acquisition systems, Libra VSAT communications equipment and Nanometrics Data Acquisition System (NAQS) central site data acquisition software. Nanometrics will also supply integration, installation and support services as required over the five year period.

Initial shipments to the BGS in Edinburgh of Trillium 240 second seismometers and other equipment were made in February 2006.
